We’re excited to announce our new blog, Gutsy Girls Travel! Our love for traveling, storytelling and photography inspired us to create this blog. Our goal is to provide honest first hand travel experiences, tips and tricks, and travel inspiration. We hope you’ll come on this journey with us and find your own inspiration!
Why did we choose the name Gutsy Girls Travel?
Gutsy isn’t about doing crazy things. It’s about pushing yourself out of your comfort zone, which can mean different things for different people:
- Going solo on a trip
- Traveling to a foreign country where you don’t speak the language
- Taking a challenging hike
- Going out on a boat when you know you may get sick
- Eating strange foods and experiencing other cultures
- Exploring a new passion, like photography
- Going to Canada in the wintertime
- For some it may mean jumping out of a plane or sleeping in hammocks hanging over a valley. That’s not us. 🙂
Who are We?
We met three years ago while hiking with friends. We quickly discovered our shared passion for traveling and photography, and that we wanted to be traveling even more. Our first trip together was in 2016 to Iceland. Since then we have been travel buddies and have continued to travel throughout the world. Our travel bucket list increases faster than we can take trips! So there will definitely be a lot to share with you all. Here’s a little bit more about each of us.
I’m Ann and I love photography and travel. I’ve spent most of my adult life traveling, both for work and pleasure. But I didn’t begin fully experiencing it till a few years ago. Today, I get joy from planning adventures, living them and then sharing memories. I want to inspire you to travel and make you believe that it’s possible today (not as some far away dream).
I’m Teri, avid traveler and aspiring photographer. My home base is in Dallas, Texas. I’m not a full-time globetrotter. I have a daughter and family that live in Dallas. You don’t have to quit your job to see the world. I encourage you to step outside of your comfort zone and try something new.
One thing we’ve noticed over the years is it’s important that the people you travel with have a similar travel style. When you’re up at 5am to capture the sunrise you don’t always make it to midnight out on the town. Each of us have our own priorities when we travel. For us, it’s hiking, photography, countryside, mountains, and ocean, basically everything naturewise. But you won’t typically find us out partying it up until dawn in the city. Just not our style at this point in our lives.
Sometimes we get it right and sometimes it goes terribly wrong, like when Teri took an unintentional swim in Iceland in 40 degree weather, or when we found ourselves alone on a hill after sunset with a long hike down in the dark, it’s all part of the experience and the stories we will share.
We love to plan unique trips, and will share our itineraries and our adventures with you. Hopefully, this will help you on your next trip. Or at least provide a moment of escape, I know it does for us!
We have several adventures lined up, including Boston and Italy. Stay tuned for more.
We invite you to share in our experiences through this blog and challenge you to find your own inner gutsy girl or guy. We promise you don’t have to jump out of a plane to be gutsy!
